Who is this?

Hello, I'm D. The D stands for Don. ¹

I was born in Taiwan when it was considered to be China, grew up in various Chicago suburbs (with stops in Dayton, OH; Macomb, IL; and Minneapolis), attended college in eastern Iowa, returned to the Chicago suburbs, returned again to eastern Iowa, boomeranged back to the Chicago suburbs and Chicago proper, then moved to the St. Louis region where I currently reside with my wife, L., and many, many stuffed animals. Whew.

I studied political science in college, but I’ve been working in tech for all of my post-college life. I usually don’t tell people what I studied in college, so let’s keep that between you, me, and the wall, okay? I’ve been slowly moving up the ladder in tech, from selling tech to supporting tech services. Now, I’m working on an analytical Level 3 support role for Epic at a health service organization.

My interests and hobbies change over time, but there are a few things that have stuck around. I have long been into birds, astronomy, photography, and cult TV shows. As time has gone on, I’ve also gotten into travel, beer and wine (particularly from Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas), map collecting, colognes, alternate histories, and sports. This is by no means an inclusive list, nor does it mean I'm particularly skilled at discussing them in minute detail. I distract far too easily to heavily commit to one or two interests.
