Where are you?
Major social media presence
As of this post, here are the online sites where I am active or semi-active:
- Mastodon (ACTIVE) remains my primary social media outlet. It's not perfect, but it's my least-worrisome text-driven service.
- Glass (ACTIVE) has moved up in my online world, to the point where I feel like sharing my profile. I made a public committment in mid-April to use Glass as my main photo-sharing site, and I've been keeping true to my word.
- omg.lol (ACTIVE to SEMI-ACTIVE) is a collection of web services that's pretty awesome, including a digital asset proven service that abides by the Popeye philosophy. There are some social media services within omg.lol, including a status page, a Now page, and a photo-sharing page, all of which get some use.
- Reddit (SEMI-ACTIVE) is, for me, still informative and still useful. Because of my recent pickup of film photography, I've been spending more time there and even interacting in posts, thereby earning Reddit a promotion to its new state of presence.
- Instagram (SEMI-ACTIVE) still remains the most useful of Meta sites for me. I will read your Stories, but I haven't read the main timeline since March 2025. Maybe I'll get back to it one day.
- Bluesky (SEMI-ACTIVE to LURKER) started out with promise, but as of 2025 it has taken the worst elements of old Twitter and Mastodon, and combined them into something uniquely worse. I mainly check in for a few minutes a day, but it's not a real hangout spot.
- Facebook (SEMI-ACTIVE to LURKER) was originally reduced to once-a-month check-ins as part of my Digital Declutter project, but I'm now checking in at least once a week. However, I am treating it like Bluesky, and only scan it for a few minutes.
Minor social media presence
Now reduced to just one site:
- Metafilter (LURKER) is an old hangout spot (since 2007!), though I'm nowhere near as active as I once was there.
Not a social media presence
Can I be reached outside of a social media service? Certainly!
- Email is always an option!
- RSS will get my latest blog posts into the RSS reader of your choice. If you are on a Mac or iDevice, I recommend News Explorer.
- Signal is available by request.
