Week Notes, 2025-06-22

Weekly Features from June 16th - June 22nd:

🥵 Man, it's a hot one. I'll try to keep this short, as it's almost too hot to type.

🗂️ If you go pack through older Week Notes posts--most easily accomplished by hitting up the #WeeklyNotes hashtag--you'll see that I put links in for all of the media entries. I'm not sure why I didn't do this earlier, but all of my entries from March onward should now have URL's to bring you to the original articles. Some media will be behind firewalls or member subscriptions, so in those cases I have referred you to the membership page. I'm also experimenting with other ways to make the entries easier to read. Let me know any suggestions for improving this section of the notes, please.

📷 The Canon came back to me on Monday, packaged securely in its box, and I can feel the difference with the repairs and maintenance. The shutter moves in a smoother fashion, and the rings around the lens are a bit easier to adjust for my shutter or aperture or film speed settings. I have loaded some Ilford FP4+ 125 film, and if I don't melt over the next few days I'll shoot a bit more.

🍶 On Saturday 06-21, in spite of the nearly 100 F temperatures, L. and I attended a sake tasting in Chesterfield. We learned that yes, we do like sake, so we bought a couple bottles: the Taka Noble Arrow (if you like Riesling wine, you'll really enjoy this sake); and the Tozai Blossom of Peace (which has a bit more of a cherry flavor than plum, and while it is sweet it does not have a long finish). We both overindulged with the Noble Arrow sake when we made it home after dinner, so between that and today's heat index being around 105, it's no wonder I am moving slow today.

✍🏻 I posted my entry for the IndieWeb Carnival’s June theme, “Take Two,” on Wednesday 06-18. You can check out the Spokane Option at the link. I had a lot of assumptions when I started writing it, but they kept changing as I wrote. I won't spoil the ending, but I can tell you that writing about the Spokane Option was really liberating. Some choices in life have meaning because you choose them, but others have meaning because you don’t. What about the Spokane Option? Click the link to find out!
