Week In Review Glossary
As of this writing (see date below), here are the explanations for the icons used for the Week In Review posts:
- 🈁 is a Japanese word sign for “here,” derived from the katakana ココ (koko). It can be used to convey “look here” or “I am here,” which is how I will use it in the WIR posts to express my mood and feelings for the week that was.
- 📕 is for the big story of the week, the main thing that took up my time and attention.
- 📜 is for the smaller story of the week or sidescroll, worth mentioning but not as prominent as the big story.
- ❤️🩹 will be where I talk about my physical and mental well-being for the week that just passed.
- 🎨 is where I document my creative outputs for the past week.
- 🔬 will be the place where I talk about things I’m trying out. Right now, it’s largely tech-focused, but it’s open to expansion.
- 🪟 is a window icon looking to the outside world, so here’s where I’ll talk about excursions outside of the house, whether by myself or with L. accompanying me.
- 📰 documents the big readings of the week, with a brief inline review. I enjoyed writing longer reviews in my Weekly Updates, as they allowed for my critical examinations and authorship skills to grow together. However, the length of the reviews and their placements in the Weekly Updates meant these were ledes that were heavily buried. Going forward, I will give myself permission to write these up in separate articles, while keeping the capsule reviews in the WIR posts.
- 🎬 documents my audiovisual media I enjoyed in the previous week: YouTube episodes; podcasts; movies, etc. The same philosophy with the readings applies here as well.
- 🏥 will be my job section. Self-explanatory.
- 🔮 is where I’ll look into the future for big events coming up.
- 📸 sees a carryover from the latter part of the Weekly Update: a photo post! I’ve enjoyed looking at older photos with a more practiced eye, so I will continue sharing them at the end of my WIR posts, along with a brief explanation of what is being depicted.
