Random thoughts too long for a Mastodon post, but not long enough for a full-blown post.
- โ๏ธ Iโm not sure what has gotten into me, but Iโve been writing a lot more on this blog in July. Todayโs Randoming post will be my fourth entry this month! In case you missed it, I posted two submissions for the JulyReply blogging event: one on Monday 07-06 regarding AI; the other on Tuesday 07-07 regarding blog titles and โbucket postsโ like my weekly updates. I may submit one more entry before July is over, but if it were to happen, donโt expect it until the latter half of the month.
- ๐ชฆ Youโll have to deal with this Randoming post in the place of my usual weekly review. When this post goes live, I will be driving to Chicago with L. to prepare for my motherโs internment on Friday 07-10. I am rather eager to close this chapter of my life, and to give my mother's soul its final resting place with her mother: the only parent who loved and cared for her.
- ๐ My fireworks experiences during America 250 was closer in spirit to the Bummer Remix from โTeam America: World Police,โ as the displays on Friday 07-03 and Saturday 07-04 were rather sad. In both cases, the common factor was a poor vantage point that blocked most, if not all, of what was exploding in the sky, so the blame is more on my shoulders than anything else. It still made for a lame experience, though, so next year will require better planning to avoid a repeat.
- ๐ธ Yesterday I started what I hope will become a good habit: reviewing my finances to look at recurring charges. Itโs shocking in some ways to see just how many subscriptions Iโve signed up, and how a Patreon here or website there can add up quickly. Winnowing this list down will be at the top of my tasks upon my return.
- ๐ Shameless plug time! The two JulyReply posts linked above has drawn more attention to this blog, so hello to anyone new! Since Iโll be out for a bit, I would look at the listing of posts under โHowโs it going?โ In the spirit of the reason why Iโm out, I can recommend the post about my mother, but if you want less heavy fare, thereโs also my New Mexico and San Diego vacation recaps, along with various weekly updates and random-themed posts.
